First of all, having a great DJ can create that stress-free day that you’ve been dreaming of. Being a DJ isn’t solely about the music on the big day. It’s also about how they carry themselves as your Master of Ceremonies. Here are some questions we recommend asking your DJ at your first meeting!

1. How many hours of service does your contract include?
2. Do you offer service for the ceremony and reception?
3. What additional services do you offer: lighting, photobooth, slideshow, a etc.?
4. What are your recommendations or process for selecting special songs: procession, recession, reception entrance, first dance, tosses, cake cutting, last dance?
5. How do you handle a no-play list?

7. Are you our DJ or will it be your employee?
8. Do you have microphones for toasts?
9. Price – what’s included? What isn’t?
10. Do you help create a timeline?
11. How much of the music do you allow us to choose?
12. How do you engage guests & keep the energy up throughout the evening?
13. What do you do if no one is dancing?
14. Do you have microphones for toasts?
15. What do you wear for the wedding?
16. Do you provide a written contract?
17. What is your cancellation policy?
18. What happens if you unexpectedly cannot DJ our wedding?
19. Tell me about your set-up & breakdown time frame and any additional fees.
20. Are you insured? Note: Irongate Garden Inn requires the DJ be insured.

And finally, for those of you hosting your wedding in Butte County, make sure the DJ is a professional who knows, understands and respects the Butte County Noise Ordinance.
