When to Send Save The Dates & Invitations

Recently engaged? Congratulations! We’re so excited for you, and we appreciate your interest in Irongate Garden Inn venue, in Chico, California.

Save The Dates and Invitations can be a tedious task to accomplish during your wedding planning journey. We get it! Especially when you have over 200 people to think about. Who do you invite, when do you send the save the dates, when do you send the invitations?! There are a lot of questions we are going to answer for you today.

But before we move forward, if you need more wedding planning help, and can’t find the resource online, make sure to email us or give us a call for more information. We’d love to help make this process easy and painless.

1. How do you narrow down your guest list?

This is a tough one, for everyone! We are sure that most of you could probably invite over 400 people if you wanted to, which hey, Irongate Garden Inn is fully capable of hosting that many people! But, if you want to keep the cost down, it’s important to narrow down your list. To do this, think about who you really want to see. Who knows you the best, who you both know. This will make the deciding factor a bit easier.

2. When do you send Save The Dates?

In our opinion, as soon as you get your engagement photos done (if you choose to do so) as long as it’s not 2 years in advance… This little card in the mail is basically acting like an announcement, so sending them 1 year out, won’t be a bad thing. If you’d like to wait, we recommend 6 months prior.

3. When do you send invites?

Invites should be sent 2-3 months in advance, especially if you have people coming from out of town. If you’d like to send them closer to the 2 month mark before hand, we recommend emailing or calling your loved ones who do live out of town so they can make the proper plans for travel in advance. The closer you get to the big day, the harder it is to save money on plane tickets, etc.

4. Adding rehearsal information?

So this can be difficult if you’d like a lot of people at your rehearsal dinner. You can always enter an insert into those specific people’s invitations, or you can send a group text, create a Facebook event page, or give them a call to let them know when and where rehearsal dinner will be held! Don’t stress too much about this part…people who are at rehearsal will be at rehearsal dinner, so that makes it a little easier.

We hope these 4 answers will give you a bit more clarity as to when to send your save the dates, invitations, and how to go about selecting individuals to attend your event! If you have any other questions, remember you can email us.
